At last the full force the credit crunch is taking hold of the housing market and shaking about like a tiger with a rag doll. This doesn't worry the Brass Monkeys one jot. No way. They are safe in the knowledge that the boom in the UK housing market did not extend its reach into the UK "Monkey House" market so its business as usual for the three wise 'uns.
Eskimo Project
Since I last put pen to paper, a wet and windy summer has been and gone. The inclement weather has given our heroes, Eskimo Project, the perfect excuse to spend time down at the "puddle" (the British Summertime handle for the The Igloo, EP's very own knob-twiddling HQ). This time has been spent wisely, as you would imagine, carefully crafting the next compendium of compelling pop concerto's.
The sheer amount of patience required by Lead Engineer, Phil Dinn to applies to his output ensures that every note, chime, hi-hat and chord are laid down in the same painstaking way as Rolf Harris uses a gallon of Crown Emulsion and a six-inch brush. When you are close to it, you don't really see the whole picture but when you stand back and take it all in, all you can do is sigh at the sonic landscape laid out before. Not for Eskimo Project, the hurriedly chucked together slosh that most bands and artists seem to think is acceptable, not on your life. This is album was always going to be playing the long game. As it had to be right. And it will be. Soon. There will be some new material available on the websites soon, namely the EP site www.eskimoproject.com and the myspace sites too so keep an eye open.
Sexbait
The Beat Six story unfurls too and having received some amazing reviews from the cooler end of the British press (no, not the NME…I said cool) and airplay on the UK's largest internet only radio station 2XS, the band decided to re-group and cut another platter. Back into the studio with Tristan Ivemy two weekends ago, we now have the unmastered version of the new single, which is scheduled for release in January. They now have the support of we7.com, Peter Gabriel's new digital download portal and they will feature as Spotlight artists when the single is out. Check out the Beat Six site for updates and watch this space for forthcoming gigs. There will be a big London show before Christmas.
The Rumour Mill
Overheard at an Industry Awards ceremony.....”Eskimo Project had let slip during a meeting with their Press Agent, Simon Towell, that they may do a secret gigs this year.” That’s it, that’s all I heard....
